About the Artist

Kalon Baughan currently resides in the deep woods of Montana where he works as a professional wildlife painter. Baughan received his bachelor of fine arts degree in 1988 from Albion College, where he graduated with honors and earned the Outstanding Artist Award. He has painted professionally since then, returning to Albion College as their Artist in Residence from 1992 through 1994. Baughan has also served as an instructor for artists at several art symposiums across the country, including the Acadia Symposium and Wolf Prairie Wildlife Art Symposium and seminars at the University of Tulsa and the Northern Wildlife Art Expo. Baughan has exhibited in many group and one-person shows, and he has been honored as Featured Artist at the Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show, NatureWorks Oklahoma Wildlife Art Festival, Northern Wildlife Art Expo and the Prestige Gallery Originals Showcase. He has also exhibited at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, Wendell Gilley Museum National Wildlife Art Showing, Vancouver International Wildlife Art Show, Michigan Wildlife Art Festival and the Grand National Art Invitational. Baughan has received numerous awards and honors in his young career, including several Best of Show, Judges' Excellence, People's Choice and Peer Awards at these various art shows. Baughan is a member of the society of Animal Artists and has been juried into their prestigious annual exhibit. He was also named Michigan Wildlife Artist of the Year in 1995. Baughan has been interviewed by CNN Headline News as an up-and-coming artist, and has had several articles and references Wildelife Art, US, informArt and Art Trends magazines. Taking research trips into the wild is Kalon's true passion. Kalon is an avid canoeist and competes nationally in downriver whitewater races. He also enjoys hiking and exploring in the beautiful rocky mountains.
