Jacquelynn Kresman grew up in San Diego, California. She seems to have made it her mission to capture on canvas every inch of the captivating shoreline of her native state. Kresman has probed that seashore since she was a child living just a block from the beach. She took naturally to the sea-conscious environment which surrounded her. So intricately precise is her work that one can make out every detail of the beach she has captured - every grain of sand, each droplet of a crashing wave, the glistening patterns of bubbles and foam as they form on the sand - bringing viewers immediately to that place and offering them the chance to say, "I know this place," or "I want to know this place."
After studying at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, Kresman set about to develop a carefully honed expertise in painting those water creatures that would later populate her detailed tide pool paintings. Since then, Kresman has captured ocean scenes as disparate as the alluring tide pools of Puerto Rico and the Hawaiian curls so prized by surfers. Kresman's work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and in Puerto Rico.
