About the Artist

Photography has been a major influence in Doug Cavanah’s life for nearly 40 years. He first became interested in photography in high school, and after graduating from Western Carolina University he worked for a decade as a newspaper photographer for The Tampa Tribune. In 1999, he became intrigued with panoramic photography and his career as a fine art photographer was born. Using light and weather as the "paint" of his photographic palette, he strives to create photographs that possess a compelling and powerful life-size dimension. Always in search of fleeting moments, Cavanah’s quest is to capture the instant when the perfect light kisses a subject to create a moment of visual harmony. His photographs are a personal expression of emotions drawn from finding beauty in everyday surroundings. His insatiable desire to record the natural splendor of the world drives him to surrender his time and passion to photography. His photographic travels include destinations throughout the United States, Europe, the South Pacific, Central America, Australia and Asia. Cavanah’s photographs are available in galleries across the country and at some of the top art festivals throughout the USA.
