Paul McCreery was trained in illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. He was born and raised in a small mountain town called Lake Arrowhead, California which strongly influenced his love of drawing and painting. Paul has done original designs for skateboards, snowboards and surfboard companies and his active lifestyle has also influenced his work.
Drawing in pen and ink has become his medium of choice, and this method transfers beautifully to screen printing, digital painting and even watercolor. The subject matter Paul chooses to draw is simply a reflection of his personal taste. There is a common thread in his work of nostalgia, whether it be surfing, retro toys, vintage arcade games, music or Americana.
Paul currently lives in Austin, Texas, a city known for it’s maker mentality. Paul thrives on the independent craftsman mindset of Austin, food trailers, internet startups, live music, all these things are celebrated and appreciated by the people who live here.
