A kindergarten teacher once told Lee Ann Zirbes’ mother that Lee Ann was drawing and coloring flowers on people’s hats and buttons on their coats during art class. That observation hinted at her promising future as an artist. Throughout her childhood, Lee Ann spent countless hours drawing, coloring with markers, crayons, pen and ink, or cutting shapes out of construction paper to create new things. Painting on canvas with the oil painting set her parents gave her for Christmas was always a source of joy. Over the years, Lee Ann experimented with various mediums, including oil paint, watercolors, watercolor pencils, chalk, crayons, markers, pen and ink, gouache, modeling paste, gel medium, oil pastels, and a wide array of acrylics. In high school, she took seven art courses, including interior design, and during college, she was tutored in oil painting by a friend who attended an art college. Most recently, she graduated from the online Nicholas Wilton Art2Life Creative Visionary Program. Lee Ann has always been captivated by the beauty of nature and enjoys painting motifs inspired by landscapes, seascapes, and flower gardens from around the world. Having extensively researched and studied impressionist painting, she enjoys working in this style, often using heavy-body acrylics on canvas. Before relocating to South Carolina, Lee Ann began her professional art career by painting murals on walls in homes throughout the Chicagoland suburbs as part of a painting company. Later, she transitioned to exhibiting her canvas paintings in gallery art shows and online. Her work has earned awards, reflecting her skill and passion for art.
