About the Artist
Don Grall was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1949. After receiving a BS degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972, he then moved to Colorado in 1975. He and his wife of 51 years reside in Woodland Park, Colorado with a great view of Pikes Peak, with Pike NF bordering my backyard. They have one daughter. In 2013 he retired from Pharmacy practice and started doing photography professionally. He says ‚”My love for whitewater kayaking, especially on remote wilderness rivers in multiple US states, that few people had ever seen in the late 1970's and my wanting to share those experiences, started my photographic journey. My interests quickly expanded to include wildlife, landscapes, and macro subjects. My favorite is wildlife but landscapes are a close second. Photography in turn fueled my desire to travel the world and share those experiences.” In the late 1980s he participated in art shows, followed by gallery representation for 12 years in Estes Park, CO. He‘s been shooting stock for over 30 years and has been a member of NANPA, (North American Nature Photography Assoc.) for over 20 years. His cameras have included Nikon, Canon and Sony. Hobbies include whitewater kayaking (US and Ecuador), downhill skiing, hiking, backpacking, and traveling, both domestically and internationally. He recently returned from photographing Polar Bears in Svalbard, Norway.
