Photographer Stephen Gassman became interested in photography early in his life, and went on to take as many photography classes as his high school schedule would allow for. His professional career began as a copy camera operator for an Iowa newspaper while attending college at Hawkeye Institute of Technology, where he majored in Commercial Photography and Photojournalism.
After graduating he went to work as a photojournalist for another Iowa paper, the Cedar Rapids Gazette, where he worked for several years. In 1994 Stephen and his wife began traveling around the country; his wife working as a traveling physical therapist and Stephen doing what he truly loves, travel and landscape photography for publications. Stephen now divides his photography career between his work in travel and landscape photography for various national publications, gallery and fine art photography for galleries and museums, commercial photography (location & architectural), and teaching photography at the University of Wisconsin, Shake Rag Alley, and the Dubuque Art Center.
