The Whitney Museum of American Art is hosting and exhibition of Americana masterpieces by Grant wood, including “American Gothic” , his most famous painting. “Grant Wood: American Gothic and other Fables” opens on March 2nd and will feature a full range of art by Wood including decorative objects from his early Arts and Crafts period, Impressionist oil paintings, and his later paintings, murals and book illustrations. The exhibition reveals a level of sophistication that voids the myth of Wood as farmer-painter. The exhibition will be on view through June 10, 2018.
